Beaver Falls man injured in car-truck accident on I-79 »
Two people remain missing while 35 others were rescued after a duck boat was struck by a barge yesterday in the Delaware River in Philadelphia. The duck boat, a popular tourist attraction in Philadelphia, apparently had mechanical problems causing it to stall and drift in the river. A barge traveling in the river then struck the boat, capsizing it and throwing the occupants of the boat into the river. Rescue responders and passerby aided in the rescue of the people in the water. The search continues for the two missing people.
Following the investigation of this boat accident, it is possible that fault for this tragic accident may be divided between the operators of the duck boat and the operators of the barge. The operators of the duck boat may have been able to avoid the mechanical failure which rendered the boat inoperable and the operators of the barge may have been able to avoid the accident if they had watched the river more carefully.
More information on this boat accident may be found at Philly.com and The Washington Post.
